Hi Folks, I hope this finds you healthy and happy after the Holidays. It is a busy time for the SAL with different events and fund raising. We held a successful Bull and Oyster Roast, Motown Dance Night and by now the New Year’s Eve Party featuring the Fabulous Hubcaps will have taken place and we are expecting another successful event. These fund raising projects allow us to contribute to important Veteran and Community Programs. Without the tireless help of many of our members, Legion and Auxiliary members this would be impossible to pull off. I want to personally thank each and every one of you who helped with these events, you know who you are. I encourage others to come out and help with one of these missions. It really does help you feel better to help others that aren't as fortunate as most of us.
The SAL membership’s hard work and dedication continues to support local and national programs. During this last quarter we made contributions to the following. Ladies Auxiliary to help with a homeless Veteran, Children’s Halloween and Christmas parties, Chesapeake Food Bank, Toys for Tots, and Charlotte Hall Veterans Home to name a few.
I recently came across this thought and felt it would be a good message to include to this report. I copied this from another site that I read daily and really thought it hit home.
I gracefully move through life’s transitions.
As colder days approach, trees shed their leaves and animals prepare for hibernation. They instinctively move through the seasons. In contrast, humans are prone to resisting change even though we know it is an essential part of growth. I may notice myself worrying or fighting change. Then I remind myself I am able to prepare and move through any change I encounter.
I envision myself shedding old beliefs and ways of being just as a tree releases leaves. Like the hibernating animals, I prepare my mind and body for a time of quiet and reflection. I see divine order in the leaves reappearing each spring. My life also follows a pattern. I emerge from each season stronger, wiser, and more loving.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.—Ecclesiastes 3:1
